And Then There Were 3!

Malley Grace is Here!
Our Little Valentine!

One month ago today, we welcomed our precious daughter, Malley Grace, into the world!  And what an event it was!  I must have jinxed myself by professing my love for being pregnant, because my delivery was pretty complicated.  36 hours of labor, 2 epidurals, emergency c-section, post-op complications and infections, OH MY!  However, all that matters is that our darling daughter is happy and healthy.

Melt. My. Heart. This was love at first sight.

Oh what a month it has been!  We're adjusting to parenthood relatively well (sink or swim, right?), and Malley is being ever so patient with us.  Ken has been truly amazing.  Truly incredible.  One of my complications was major blood loss during surgery.  Therefore, Ken has had to take care of both of us!  He has done a wonderful job and done so with a smile!  I didn't even change a diaper until she was 8 days old.  After Ken went back to work, my mommy came to help for a week.  We got to go shopping, hosted a shower, and played with this adorable baby girl!  And now, I am flying solo in my new role as a stay-at-home mom (more on that later).

Birth Stats: Born on February 13, 2013 at 10:32 am.  Weighing in at 8 pounds 11 ounces, and 21 3/4 inches long.  BIG baby!  You were born with a full head of beautiful brown hair!  Eye color is yet to be determined, but they look pretty green to us!

Here is a quick summary of month one of Malley Grace:
- You were born with both eyes open- bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, for sure!

Seriously- this is our newborn?  So alert!
Our little Valentine's Day Baby

Proud Mimi!
- You are such an alert baby- we keep joking that I gave birth to a one-month old.
- You're a champion breastfeeder!  What a blessing!
- You SMILED for mommy and Mimi on March 7th- it was just glorious!  And on 3/12, you kept smiling for daddy.  How special!
- We can already tell that you're fairly opinionated....should be fun at 16!  We love your little personality.
- You make some pretty adorable noises- coos, yurps, chirps, squeals, and squeaks
-You're not much of a napper. It's like you don't want to miss anything!

She was so fussy but so beautiful!

3 Generations!  Oh my goodness, I was SO incredibly sick. Still a wonderful memory though!

What an incredible moment. Love this adorable baby.

Here We Go!

With our first baby set to arrive ANY day now (hint hint, Malley Grace!), I wanted to start a blog to capture this very special time in our lives.  And because I know I will probably have 2 readers (Hi Mom and Grace!), I figured it would be a great way to update our families on our daughter's daily happenings.  Original?  No.  Exciting for us?  YES!

My pregnancy has been very uneventful and even somewhat enjoyable!  I know, gasp.  I am that girl.  And I am pretty sure this will jinx us for some crazy teenage years.  However, here we are awaiting the arrival of our first sweet little one!  We have prayed and hoped for this baby, and we feel so lucky that God chose us to be her parents!  And to be clear, I am quickly growing tired of being pregnant and we're excited to move to the next phase as new parents.  Pretty sure I will reread that last sentence and shake my head when I am exhausted during a 3am feeding and remembering how much easier it is to carry around a baby in utero.....

A little background about us- Ken and I met in 2008 on a blind date established by mutual friends.  Our first date was 9 hours long.  Before the date, I was dating a couple of guys, tolerating the bar scene, and being a single gal in Houston.  After the date, I was certain that I had met the man of my dreams and the rest is history.  I adore my husband.  I have envisioned him as a wonderful father since our fourth or fifth date, and I cannot wait for him to hold Malley Grace for the first time!
