Friday Fun

We're in the throws of summer here, folks.  High temps, trips to Galveston, eating salads, vacations to cooler places (where I then spend the next week pretending like I am going to move to said cooler destination and search for houses, etc.), and my favorite month in Houston, Houston Restaurant Weeks.  This evening, we're braving a nice restaurant with our neighbors who have an adorable son that is a month younger than Malley.  And yes, we've already planned prom and their wedding to each other.

Last week, we braved a chef's tasting menu in Chicago with our dear daughter, who was an absolute delight during the 2.5 hour meal.  Unreal, right?  So, naturally we've decided to tempt fate and go 2 for 2.  At least there will be 2 babies to absorb the blame if things go awry.  Mom logic is the BEST logic.
Restaurant Week is probably what saves me from throwing in the Texas towel and moving some place with reasonable summer temperatures.  $5 of each 3-course delicious and fancy meal goes to the Houston Food Bank, which is a wonderful Houston cause.  They feed our city, ya'll.  They're the biggest in the country.  And the Restaurant Week meals are always so yummy!  Grad school starts next week, too.  Three cheers for graduate school and parenthood!  I am a lucky gal.
And because I hate when bloggers post without pictures, here are some recent shots. Next up is Malley's 6 month post,  vacation recaps, some great recipes, and lots of goodness for Grandparent's Day.
Happy Weekend, Friends!

My mom (aka Mimi) gives Malley the greatest dolls.  And now she's playing with them!  Oh, and her bedskirt and dress match.  Why?  Because Mimi is the greatest and makes her bedding and clothes, too.  The woman is amazing.

I die. Blabla Kids and Mimi for the win!
